Why Do Unpainted Pillars and Cabinets Cost More Than Powder Coated Pillars & Cabinets?

All Standard Powder Coated Cabinets & Pillars are manufactured from 4003 Grade Stainless Steel.   While 4003 is highly resistant to atmospheric corrosion, it is not recommended for use as a decorative stainless steel (e.g. unpainted and polished). This is because in more aggressively corrosive environments it can discolour, producing a tarnished look to its surface.  To avoid this staining in more corrosive environments, 4003 grade stainless steel products are powder coated for external use. Where are Ritherdon Products Made?

All metal Ritherdon products are made on site at our factory on Lorne Street, Darwen, Lancashire. The building was originally the Darwen Corporation Tramsheds until Ritherdon moved here in 1947. All metalwork jobs, finishing, assembly and electrical installation are done all under one roof.

Ritherdon started designing door and frame units nearly 40 years ago. At that time the answer to this question was clear. The electricity and gas boards owned the meter box and were responsible for them. Then came deregulation, and these organisations were no longer necessarily the billing company, so they no longer had this responsibility so it appears that the consumer (usually the property owner) is responsible for its maintenance.   Which unit do I need?
