Types of New Metal Meter Boxes
For those times where you need to install a new meter box because:
A) the extent of damage to the existing box is such that you can't repair it. Not even with a Ritherdon meter box repair unit!
B) there is no meter box to repair and you need a new installation
C) you need an alternative to plastic meter boxes
That's why we offer new metal meter boxes in 3 types of fit:
- Fully recessed or flush mounted meter box
- Semi-recessed meter box
- Surface mounted meter box
For a fully recessed fit, we offer the R3 Meter box made from zinc coated steel. It is also available in 3 different size variations: Small, Medium and Large.

For a semi-recessed fit, we have the R5 meter box made from zinc coated steel. Also available in 3 size variations: Small, Medium and Large.

For surface mounted meter boxes we offer both the R6 and the R16.
The R6 is made from zinc-coated steel and comes in one size, which we call a Medium R6. (From December 2022 this product is now obsolete and replaced by our R16. Please refer to our R16 product in regards to inquires regarding the R6 in the future).

The R16 is a large size and made from stainless steel. This is our largest new meter box and due to its size it tends to be used for three-phase meter. Please check the size of your equipment and the backboard size to make sure that everything will fit inside the meter box.

R3 and R5 Low stock Items
We'd like to advise that we tend to keep less stock of R3, R5 and R6 meter boxes. So if out of stock at the time of order, it may take up to 4 weeks for your order.
