Please order Optional RB Plinths Separately
Electrical Enclosures Installation
RB Plinths are optional for the installation of RB Cabinets.
To make them stand out as optional, we have separated them from the RB cabinets themselves, so please be sure to add them to your cart if you need a plinth to install your RB Cabinet.
The use of a plinth is not compulsory, but if you don’t intend to use one please make sure that the concrete base (or equivalent) is perfectly flat and as smooth as possible. Ideally, it would be a minimum of 100mm (4”) bigger than the cabinet all round, and 150mm (6”) deep.
A plinth is recommended when installing into soft ground. The plinth is the base or root and it is designed to install the cabinet on top, bolted together through the pre-drilled holes.
The separate plinth makes it easier and neater to install cabinets. The plinth and all previous works can be completed whilst the cabinet is off-site. The separate cabinet can be filled with the equipment and pre-wired if needed and kept safe off-site until it's ready for installation.
Here's an example of an installation where a plinth has been used:
The RB plinth has been buried into the ground, the conduit and all necessary cabling have been pulled through and the plinth has been backfilled and concreted in place.
Detail of the fixings provided.
Feeding the cabling through the open base of the RB cabinet.
RB Plinths are available for all sizes of RB Cabinets. The plinth has a marked bury to line to make sure that the plinth is 50mm above ground level.
We recommend always using a plinth whenever you are installing double door RB cabinets (RB1250 and RB1550).
