We designed the Fire Rated R5 meter box back in the 1970s for the electricity boards who needed a more vandal-resistant and sometimes fire resistant alternative to the plastic meter box. The design matching most closely in appearance the standard Small GRP box

R5 fire resistant surface mounted meter box. Minimum 60 minutes fire resistance (tested to BS EN 1363 and 1366). Available in Small, Medium and Large.

Supplied in two halves allowing fitting of the box during building work and hanging of the door later when there is less chance of site damage. Designed so that the door can be hung on the left or right hand side of the pre-installed box to best suit local conditions.

Meter board and earthing stud fitted to the box as standard. Cable entry holes fitted with blind grommets to allow choice of positioning. All boxes fitted with slam lock and supplied with easy to handle triangular plastic key. Available in ESI Small, Medium and Large sizes.

Partially Recessed Meter Box for new electric meter installations.
Fire Tested - Assessed according to standards BS EN 1363-1 and BS EN 1366-3, providing 60 minutes of passive fire protection in both directions.
Compatible with the requirements stated for plastic outdoor gas boxes in BS 8499:2017.
Cable Entry – Four cut-outs on the sides, top and bottom provide cable entry. The one to be used is covered with a plate allowing the entry of a pipe, and the other is covered with a blocker plate.
Powder coated, 1.2 mm zintec steel.
Electricity warning symbol embossed on the door.
Available in RAL 9010 Satin White.
